BHOPAL | Jun 08, 2016: State transport commissioner Shailendra Shrivastava on Tuesday directed regional transport officers across the state to get into field for keeping a tab on overloading of commercial vehicles being used for mining. The letter issued on Tuesday said that MP high court has also directed to control the overloading of such loading vehicles but there is no effective check on them.
All RTOs should start a campaign to control this and take action against these vehicles. As per the motor vehicles act, a truck is allowed to load only 19 tonnes, whereas some of these trucks have been carrying about 30 tonnes in them. In 2001, Jabalpur bench of the MPHC had ordered the mining department not to issue transit passes beyond permissible load capacity of vehicle.
