RANCHI | Jun 02, 2016: Jharkhand chief minister has sought cooperation of Sudan government in exploring and mining gold reserves of Jharkhand. Given the expertise that Sudan has in fuelling its economic growth by engaging in gold mining, CM Raghubar Das on Thursday while talking to India's Ambassador in Sudan, Amrit Lugun offered mutual cooperation in various trade and commercial activities including gold exploration and mining.
Das also met Indian ambassador in Trinidad and Tobago BIshwadeep Dey and discussedabout forging business and socio-economic relations with the country. Visit of both the Ambassadors has links with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to Indian Ambassadors in foreign countries to visit indian states from time to time and forge mutual ties for growth and cultural exchange.
While talking to Lugun, chief minister invited Sudan to participate in the proposed global investors summit scheduled to be hosted by Jharkhand in November this year. "India and Sudan already have a very strong business links and time has come to take measures to develop them further towards mutual benefit," he said citing example of gold mining industry in Sudan which has already reached a substantial level whereas the local government here has just started exploring the prospects of mining gold in a commercially viable manner. Sources in the department of mines and geology said that though Jharkhand is known to have gold reserves but it requires high end mining technology and expertise to make the excavation viable for which experience and expertise of gold mining countries like Sudan could be of great help.
