Dharwad | May 11, 2016: A sum of Rs 3 crore has been earmarked for the development of ward no. 20, which comes under Dharwad division of the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation. Raghunath Lakkannavar, the ward councilor, said that the amount will be released in two phases.
At 4pm on Wednesday, minister Vinay Kulkarni and MLA Arvind Bellad will perform bhoomi puja for the first phase of work. Of the sanctioned amount, Rs 20 lakh each will be spent on road construction at Laxmi Nagar and inner roads at Jannath Nagar. For the development of funeral grounds and graveyards, Rs 50 lakh has been reserved. With several new layouts coming up in the area, providing basic facilities has been a major demand from residents.
SWM unit to be upgraded
Lakkannavar also informed that the solid waste management unit near Hosayellapur will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 10 crore. The work will be completed in two months, said Lakkannavar. Under the project, two sub-units - compost plant and bio-mining unit - would be installed.
