Government allows sand mining in two more reaches

 

Eluru | April 22, 2016: “We have decided to allow sand mining in another two ramps in the district as the demand for the sand was increasing, said West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar. He presided over the Environment Impact Assessment Authority Committee meeting at the Collectorate here on Thursday.

 

Addressing the meeting, the Collector said that the Koderu reach in Achanta mandal, Khandavalli reach in Peravali mandal received the environmental clearance. In view of the clearance, it has decided to allow sand mining in these two ramps, he added. After receiving official clearance for these reaches, notification would be issued, he informed.

 

He said that no gravel should be transported from the government or other vacant sites without the permission of mining department. He said that the needy people should pay prescribed amount for the temporary permit. Assistant director of mines Ch Mohan Rao, groundwater department deputy director Ranga Rao, environment engineer Nagarjuna and others participated in the meeting.
