Ajmer | April 19, 2016: Union state minister Sanwar Lal Jat ordered a probe into the mine sliding accident in Sandoliya village of Aria block of the district on Monday. Jat directed to identify and prosecute those responsible for this accident. The incident took place on Sunday in which two labourers died and several were injured.
There was tension and anger in the villagers when Jat reached the village on Monday. He went to the spot to see the actual situation. "I have recommended for compensation to the deceased and also talked to the villagers about the situation," said Jat. TNNVillagers also vented out their anger before the BJP leaders and administrative officials, who reached the spot.
On Sunday, the building stone mine at Sandoliya had slid crushing to death Kalu and Mangal Jat, who were inside the mine. Sources said that the mine was already 100 feet deep and illegal mining was done in this area. "Illegal miners engaged labourers from the village and they had to go down a depth of 100 feet to bring out stones from the mine," said a villager.
Sources said that the administration, mining department and even police were aware of the illegal mining in the region but no action had been taken. "We used JCB machines to take out the debris to save the labourers but unfortunately the depth was huge," said police, who reached the spot yesterday.
There were five others who were injured in this accident, sources said.
"As labourers started going down deep in the mine, the large part of the mine slid and crushed them inside the mine," said another villager.
When Union state minister Jat reached the village there was heavy anger in the villagers. Jat consoled them and also assured them of compensation. "I have ordered an enquiry into the accident and assured that those who are responsible will be prosecuted by law," said Jat.
Meanwhile, sources said that there are several mines in this region which are operated illegally and there was no check on such activities in the region. "We have no crops since one year and, therefore, need to work in these mines to survive," said a villager.
