KHAMMAM | March 30, 2016: The proposed ordinary sand mine at Veerapuram village under Duginepalli gram panchayat in Pinapaka mandal will herald all-round development of the gram panchayat, provide direct and indirect employment to the local youths and help the local tribal people tread the path of financial self-reliance, said Rajiv Gandhi Hanmanthu, Project Officer, Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Bhadrachalam.
He was speaking at an Environmental Public Hearing on the proposed ordinary sand mine at Veerapuram on Tuesday. The estimated cost of the proposed project will be about Rs 30 lakh.
According to sources, the Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation (TSMDC) has been granted a mining lease over an extent of 28 hectares in Veerapuram to produce six lakh cubic metres of sand per year from the lease.
Speaking on the occasion, officials said the proposed sand mine at Veerapuram would have a positive impact on the socio-economic environment of the area.
Insisting that the mining activity does not involve any displacement of human settlement, they listed the proposed dust control measures in the mine to check air pollution.
Sarpanch S Muttaiah, local MPTC Gopala Narsaraju, and other local body representatives and officials were present.
