Kohima | March 15, 2016: The Department of Geology & Mining will continue regional coal exploration at Changki Block-A in Mokokchung district under promotional functioning and will also take up 2nd phase of prospecting/ exploration of platinum group of minerals in Naga Hills Ophiolite, funded by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India during 2016 -17.
This was stated by Nagaland Governor PB Acharya in his address in the state assembly session here today.
Acharya also stated that the Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation (NSMDC) has taken up the 9 km Zipu to Moke road and the 20 km Laluri to Mimi road, which will facilitate establishment of mega cement plant at Mimi. Bridges across Tizu river and Chizuti bridge on the Mimi-Laluri road were completed and opened to vehicle traffic in 2015, he informed.
