Delhi | Jan 07, 2016: The National green Tribunal on Thursday took a serious view of the unfettered sand mining being carried out in the two Telugu states. It ordered that the illegal sand mining be stopped immedtely.

The sand mining that is carried out without environmental clearance is illegal, the Green Tribunal stated, and issued a notice to the two states to reply to this issue in two weeks.

The tribunal expressed serious displeasure on the fact that machinery was being used on the river banks to draw out sand. The tribunal stated that it will take up further discussion on this aspect on February 4th.
