KHAMMAM | Dec 14, 2015: In continuation of its endeavour to enable coal miners perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has provided around 40,000 lightweight LED cap lamps to the workers in its 36 underground mines spread across four districts in the State.
The management of the State-owned SCCL has drawn up plans to procure an additional 7,000 LED cap lamps in line with its renewed focus on leveraging the resilient and reliable technologies for improving safety and productivity in its coal mines.
The company has introduced the lightweight LED cap lamps, weighing 600 grams each, replacing the old conventional cap lamps which weighed around 2 kilogramme each, at an estimated cost of Rs 11.5 crore.
The lightweight LED cap lamps are easy to carry, use, and above all, provides better illumination in underground mines, said M. Raji Reddy, general secretary, Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham. The modern LED cap lamps offer flexible options to adjust the lighting and use in normal working conditions as well as emergency situations.
The company management has initiated efforts to procure additional LED cap lamps to meet the full requirement of the coal miners in all the underground mines.
