Coal Ministry receives 31 bids for auction of 10 mines

 

Mumbai | Dec 08, 2015: A total of 31 bids were received for 10 coal mines offered to the Non Regulated Sector in the third tranche of auction of coal mines under the provisions of the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015, said Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy (IC) in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.

 

Crest Steel and Power Private Limited, Godawari Natural Resources Limited and Jindal Steel and Power Limited have submitted their bids for Bhaskarpura coal mines in Chhattisgarh; Hindalco Industries, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, Kolkata Glass and Ceramics Private Limited, SAIL and Vedanta Ltd have bid for Chitarpur coal blocks in Jharkhand; Bhushan Power & Steel Limited, Hindalco Industries, Jindal Steel and Power, RINL, SAIL and Vedanta Ltd have bid for Jamkhani coal mines in Odisha; ACC Ltd, Crest Steel and Power Private Limited, Emami Cement, Grace Industries, Jaypee Cement and JK Lakshmi Cement have bid for Majra coal blocks in Maharashtra; Grace Industries, Lloyds Metals and Topworth Urja & Metals have bid for Marki Mangli-1 coal mines in Maharshtra; JSW Steel Ltd, RNIL and SAIL have bid for Parbatpur Central coal blocks in Jharkhand.

 

Only two Technical Bids were received each for Dongeri Tal – II and Sondhia Coal Mines, stated the Minister. Further, only one Technical Bid was received for Kosar Dongergaon coal mine and no Technical Bid was received for Marki Mangli – IV coal mine.

 

“So far, 31 coal mines have been successfully auctioned under the provisions of Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015 and the Rules made thereunder,” added Goyal.

 

The estimated revenue which would accrue to coal bearing state during the life of mine/lease period from the Auction of 31 coal mines is Rs. 1,96,698 crores. In addition, an estimated amount of Rs. 1,48,275 crores would accrue to coal bearing States from allotment of 42 coal mines to Central and State PSU’s. Further, the benefit to consumers in terms of reduction of electricity tariffs is likely to be about Rs. 69,310.97 crores, the Minister informed.
