ALWAR | Dec 01, 2015: In a crackdown on illegal mining, the police teams on Monday arrested 18 people and seized 15 vehicles used in mining in Alwar's Malakheda area. FIRs were registered against the illegal miners.
Police teams led by DSP Parmal Singh raided various places in Malakheda area simultaneously. "We found that illegally mined stones were being transported from Bilandi and Satana hills. Eleven tractors being used in transportation were seized," said a police officer. On seeing the police teams, the drivers attempted to escape, but they were chased and arrested.
"Some villagers had approached the SP accusing the local police station staff of being in connivance with miners. Policemen from special teams were sent to these places in plainclothes. Some places were identified over three days and raids were carried out on Monday morning," said the officer. SP Kailash Bishnoi said that a special drive has been launched against illegal miners. "We are interrogating the arrested men," said the officer.
