KAKINADA | Oct 27, 2015: Making it clear that mining activity in the de-notified lands at Anuru and Kondapalli near Surampalem will not be allowed, East Godavari Joint Collector S. Satyanarayana on Monday said the Agriculture Department had certified that the lands were cultivable and suitable for horticulture.
Mr. Satyanarayana, who headed a committee on mining activity in the villages near Surampalem, said mining taken up by Satya Mining and Mutually Aided Cooperative Society was going on in accordance with instructions issued by the departments concerned, and that no violation of norms was found during the enquiry. He said farmers who got the de-notified lands from the government through pattas were the beneficiaries of mining. “Of the 823.73 acres of de-notified patta land, mining activity is going on in 64 acres and no violations were found in the process of the gravel mining,” he said.
