Mining truckers plan stir over poor rates

Ponda/Goa | Oct 19, 2015: North and South Goa Truck Owners' Association in their joint meeting held at Dharbandora Taluka on Sunday

Demanded that the E-Auction ore tranporting mining companies provide truck owners the tranportation rates decided by government which is Rs 12.33/tonne/km for e-auctioned ore, failing which they have threatened to stop ferrying the stuff from October 19 till their demands were met by the mining companies and the government.

They also said once they were paid the government approved rates, they will demand Rs 16/km/tonne as the government rates were outdated, they said. The aggrieved truckers complained that currently they were paid a mere Rs 7 or Rs 8/km/tonne. They have decided to protest against mining companies and the government's reported negligence.

The truck owners have also decided to form a committee to decide rates.
