CUDDALORE (Tamil Nadu) | Aug 05, 2015: Over 2,000 regular employees of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) owing allegiance to recognised trade unions of Labour Progressive Front (LPF), Anna Workers and Staff Union (AWSU) and other unions were arrested when they attempted to picket Mines I in support of their charter of demands on Tuesday.
Over 12,000 regular employees of NLC are on indefinite strike since July 20 seeking wage revision.
Led by LPF president
The employees led by LPF president Thirumavalavan took out a rally from the Q Bridge to picket Mines I. Police personnel who were posted in strength arrested them. They were later released in the evening.
NLC sources said that there was no impact in power generation and lignite mining continued without any disruption.
Power production
A total of 2, 380 MW of power was produced on Tuesday as against the installed capacity of 2,990 MW owing to scheduled maintenance in Thermal Power Station I and Thermal Power Station Expansion. Meanwhile, the fourth round of tri-partite conciliatory talks has been scheduled in Chennai on Wednesday.
