PONDA | Aug 05, 2015: Claiming that following the closure of mining activity in Goa the truck drivers suffered heavily, the all Goa truck drivers union has demanded that the state government give them a package similar to the one given to the truck owners.
The truck drivers, united under the banner of the union are supported by the Shiv Sena. Speaking to a large gathering of over a thousand truck drivers at Goddess Dhareshwari hall at Dharbandora on Tuesday, Shiv Sena Goa pradesh chief Ajitsinh Rane demanded that the government give a package of 5 lakh to each driver. He also demanded that half of the amount be paid before the Ganesh festival and remaining thereafter. Rane has also threatened to take out a morcha in Panaji if their demands are not met.
Former Shiv Sena Goa chief Ramesh Naik insisted that MLAs Ganesh Gaonkar, Nilesh Cabral, Subhash Phaldessai and Pramod Sawant should support the truck drivers to get the package.
