OMC Fund for Medicinal Park

 

DHENKANAL | Aug 03, 2015: Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has released Rs 20 lakh for plantation of saplings in medicinal garden set up on 713 acres of land at Sogar village under Kamakhyanagar block of the district.

 

The fund was released at the intervention of Minister of State for Steel and Mines Prafulla Mallik who also sanctioned over Rs 50 lakh for the herbal conservation park project.

 

Sources said earlier, Rs 1.7 crore was spent under MGNREGA for development of the park. More than 110 types of rare, indigenous and precious medicinal herbs are being grown in the garden maintained by Forest Department.

 

Divisional Forest Officer PK Sahoo said the fund released by OMC will be utilised by planting several rare and indigenous medicinal herbs in the garden.
