Transportation of Minerals Hit

ROURKELA | Jul 21, 2015: Mineral transportation from mines in Koida of Sundargarh district and Joda in Keonjhar district was paralysed on Monday due to indefinite strike by 15 truck and tipper owners’ associations following dispute with industries and mineral transporters over fare.

Sources said around 10,000 trucks and tippers in Sundargarh district are engaged in transportation of minerals to sponge iron industries. Similarly, about 15,000 vehicles are engaged in transportation of ore from various mines in Keonjhar district. President of Tipper Owners’ Association of Rourkela BR Beura said they are fighting against the arbitrary fare prescribed by Odisha Sponge Iron Manufacturing Association on behalf of sponge iron plants and transporters appointed by mining houses.
