16 Coal Mines Closed Down During Last three Years

 

 

            Minister of State for Coal, Shri Pratik Prakash Bapu Patil today informed the Lok Sabha that certain mines of Coal India Ltd. have been closed down or abandoned mainly due to reasons like exhaustion of extractable reserves, depletion of resources etc. He was replying to a written question in the house. State and subsidiary-wise details of closed mines of Coal India Limited during the last three years and the current year (upto September 2012) are:-

He further said several mines are closed due to exhaustion of reserves. Therefore, reviving of these mines is not possible. However, the mines closed due to techno-economic reasons like adverse geo-mining conditions, safety reasons, etc. can be revived if suitable technology which is economically viable is available in future.
