Description : Particulate matter less than 10 microns (PM10) has been monitored at residential/commercial and industrial sites of Dhanbad during December 2008 to February 2009. PM10 mass concentration ranged from 119.2 - 312.3 µg/m3 at the residential site and 213.2 - 421.3 µg/m3 at the industrial site. Meteorological parameters such as wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, temperature and relative humidity were collected simultaneously during the study period. The effects of existing meteorology on air quality were assessed. Spearman rank correlation coefficient analysis showed an inverse relationship between PM10 and meteorological parameters. Multiple regression relationship between PM10 and meteorological parameters were developed for both industrial and residential sites. Statistical analysis through Normalized Mean Standard Error (NMSE) indicated good accuracy for both the multiple regression models whereas Model Bias (MB) showed over- predicting and under-predicting situations for residential and industrial sites respectively.
