Description : In the last few years, the global role of coal as an energy source has grown, and this trend is expected to continue. In 2004, coal satisfied no less than 26% of the global demand for primary energy. According to the predictions of the Energy Information Administration (EIA), coal will satisfy ~28% of global demand for energy sources, and ~45% of fuel needs for electricity generation (as against 43% in 2004). Currently, coal is less expensive than oil and natural gas. The transportation network and logistical preconditions for coal delivery are actively under development, and the global market is growing.
